HOT SNIPPETS -poll/speeding/community day

(November 17, 2009)
THOSE attending the next Warminster area board meeting of Wiltshire Council at Kingdown School on 26 November will be handed polling cards enabling them to vote for their favourite spending priority at the meeting.
The cards will be collected and deposited in a ballot box and  then counted during the meeting to give an indication of where more money (and less) should be spent.
The results will be added together with the rest of Wiltshire and the People's Voice panel to help guide councillors making their spending priorities next year, says the county council.

NEW speed limits could be coming into force in Warminster next year following a report being drawn up for discussion in January.
The matter is expected to be on the agenda of the Warminster area board early next year and could see the 40 mph speed limit in Westbury Road reduced to 30 mph.
Community Day - The Mayor of Warminster Cllr. Tony Nicklin is hoping to run a 'community day' early next year and this has been welcomed by the co-author of a highly popular town website.
"I hope he will take a look at our chapter about Civic Pride," says Paul Macdonald of "I believe very strongly in the positive aspects of our community.
"In it we suggest he 'could create The Mayor of Warminster’s Annual Gala Awards event to celebrate the achievement of our unsung heroes nominated by their employers, groups or friends for exceptional commitment and service.
"What a positive thing it would be to round off the day with this event."
The date for the diary of all local groups and organisations is Saturday 27th February 2010.
